“Boom Town”
While we read “Boom Town,” think about how Amanda’s business sparks the development of the town. Type in the boxes to complete the sequence chain as we read.

Pa comes in from the gold fields every Saturday night. Some miners were striking it rich but pa had no luck. |

Amanda loves to bake pie but it takes her a while because they don’t have a real stove but she tries and gets it rite. |
|
Then pa took a pie to the gold field everyone likes the pie. So Amanda starts a pie stand if you want a pie you have to give one gold piece. |
|
Then a man came in with dirt all over his clothes he asked if there was someone who did laundry. Amanda said that the man could start a laundry stand he would make a lot of money that way. |
|
They started all kinds of stands it made the land less lonely. Some people liked the pies so much that they stayed and soon they had a cooper, tanner, miller, and a blacksmith. |

The town slowly began to be more like a city. Then men went with there families soon the town was filled with children. They built a school and many new houses appeared everywhere. |
|
A café and a hotel opened the owner of the café bought pies from Amanda. Then Amanda said they need better streets and sidewalks. |
|
Then Amanda finds a skillet and they make the best pies in the whole town. Pa doesn’t searching for gold anymore. Our house is in the middle of a boomtown and to think it all started with me Amanda baking pies. |
