Focus on your assigned format and be prepared to work within a small group of four classmates to create a poster session that will teach the rest of the class about the format under consideration. Please make sure you visit suggested websites for your assigned format.(Shared Reading/Read-Aloud/Guided Reading/Readers Theatre/Sustained Silent Reading/Literature Circles)
By the end of this session your classmates should be able to identify what is important about these method frameworks and to compare and contrast them. (See Rubric)

Goldilocks Strategy
Preparation for Next Class You will view a designated Target Child in Mrs. Granato’s classroom:  View Interview, Parent Interview, Teacher Interview, Work samples, Running Records and other instances in which the child appeared in the Case Study. You will write a paper on this child to hand in on Sept. 28th(See Checklist). Come prepared to discuss this child in an in-depth way. Think about what questions you have that are unanswered by the Video Case Study. In what ways did Mrs. Granato support the child’s literacy development.

At the site sample some Phonemic Awareness Assessment tools to get an understanding of what phonemic awareness entails. View the Phonics Inventory to see how this assessment works. Try to get an understanding of what phonics entails based on this assessment. What is the difference between phonological, phonemic awareness and phonics? Bring these ideas with you to discuss in class.
