The Literacy Essentials Conference is
organized every year by the Department of Reading and Language Arts
at Central Connecticut State University. In these challenging times
in education, in general, and in literacy education, in particular,
this conference is timely and relevant to every educator who wishes
to make a difference in students’ lives. Through hands-on workshops,
paper presentations, panel discussions, research poster sessions,
and activity demonstrations, a wide range of practitioners and
scholars inform participants about the most up-to-date research and
best practices in our field.
We invite you to attend our conference (Registration
Form) and become part of this exciting event. We also
invite you to consider submitting a proposal (Call
for Proposals) to share your work with classroom
teachers, school administrators, graduate students, and researchers
who find this conference to be a stimulating experience for them.
Lastly, we invite participants to nominate deserving individuals
or organizations for the
Literacy Advocacy Award. The nominees must have, through their advocacy,
made significant literacy contributions in the Greater Connecticut
area. This award will be presented at the Literacy Essentials
Conference.
Everyone attending the conference, including
presenters, must register. Presenters are encouraged to register for
the conference as soon as they receive their acceptance notification.
For all inquiries, please contact the
conference
chairs, Dr. Julia Kara-Soteriou or Dr. Catherine Kurkjian.
